Why do you need Personal Training?

Every human is an individual. As such we must treat every human as an individual. Personal training is more than just providing you with a rep counter and professional cheerleader. Personal training to us at Base Training is about providing you with a Professional Coach that can Assess, Prescribe, Reflect, & Adjust a program and training design that is 100% tailored to you, the individual human, that has individual needs and goals.

To provide an effective intervention to the struggles that you may be facing requires a personal approach that can only be achieved through the use of a one to one professional personal training service.

I mean you wouldn’t go to your doctors with a specific personalised problem and ask to be seen with a group of 25 other people, would you?

So, if you are feeling like it is time to make a change and utilise an approach based upon an assessment of your training history, your lifestyle, your nutrition, followed up with an assessment of your current status, then personal training may be for you.

It’s time to stop the endless group classes, that provide a dose of exercise that may be inappropriate for you, the fad diets that leave you in a worse position than you started and the lack of care that the group class motivator has and swap it for a Base Training professional coach and personal trainer.

Whats wrong with traditional Personal Training?

I know what you’re thinking what makes you any different from all of the personal trainers out there? Well let’s look at the current state of the industry from the perspective of a personal trainer.

Most personal trainers are qualified through a short six-week personal trainers’ certification. They spend the first two weeks learning how to take a group class. They then begin to learn the basics of physiology, otherwise known as the human body, this includes things like, what are the common muscle groups, what are the common bones and joints called.

The next stage includes the basics of nutrition and program design, during this phase there is a practical element which includes the implementation of a 30 to 60 minute personal training session with another member of the course. During this they are assessed on attributes such as enthusiasm and effectiveness of the program. Not necessarily key features that will lead you to success.

So, now they have graduated the course, with a small amount of knowledge they are thrust into the world of personal training with clients that are complicated and diverse, each with their own goals and considerations. What most personal trainers do is utilise FAD fitness ideas like HIIT or Calorie counting to help you achieve your goal, without realising that it could be pulling you further away from it in the long run.

Now we aren’t saying that they do not work, but as with every tool there is a specific time, place and use for it.  The personal trainer signs up a new client who is in need of help, without any assessment or consultation they get straight on eagerly with a sixty-minute session, you then leave tired and exhausted with no contact or follow up outside of your one hour of training, and now you’re thinking “well how do I manage the other one hundred and sixty seven hours in the week”.

How much does Personal Training cost?

We also have to consider the financial cost, many of you have bills to pay and families to take care of. The average cost of a sixty-minute personal training session in Cambridge is £40, multiply that by the average gym attendance of 2.8 times per week and you have a potential monthly total of £448.

This is a figure that is unsustainable for the rest of your life. Now, I suspect that as you are reading this you may be thinking “well that doesn’t sound great”, or “that’s exactly what happened to me last time”.

Why choose Base Training?

Worry no more, I am here to tell you there is a better way. The Base Training personal trainers have revolutionised the traditional model that chewed you up and spat you out.
